COS is pleased to announce the opening of its new flagship store located on Huidevetterstraat 36, in the historic centre of Antwerp tomorrow. Set over 680 sqm at varying levels, the new store will celebrate the brand’s influences from the fields of art and contemporary design, exploring inspirations and interests in one hybrid space.

Continuing the renowned brand aesthetic, the COS in-house architects and designers have combined functionality and modern design whilst respectfully acknowledging the original details of the former neoclassical Bank; A dark restored Belgium blue stone façade is contrasted with vast floor to ceiling windows and modern skylights that offer a wealth of natural light, changing the ambience of the store throughout the day. Environmental impact and circularity have been considered throughout the store design; display plinths are crafted from upcycled waste materials whilst offcuts of innovative components such as Pietranova stone have been used to construct the space. The typically stationary architectural features such as the walls have been deconstructed and recomposed to create a flexible, fluid space that can be interchangeable with the COS collections; Translucent glass panels and curved walls are complimented by natural lime breathaplasta by designers Adaptavate, to create cleaner air.

Complimenting the aesthetic, the space features handpicked furniture and lighting from a selection of designers such as Terje Ekstrøm, Pierre Jeanneret, Kristina Dam Studio, Nort Studio, Giulia Casaro, Marjan van Aubel, James Shaw, Philipp Aduatz, Norwegian design duo Brave New Lines and Belgian studio Muller Van Severen.

The new flagship store opens tomorrow with the COS Spring Summer 2020 collection which explores utilitarian practicality and features innovative materials such as vegetable-dyed fabrics and coated denim. Texture and construction create distinctive highlights on tailoring, while interwoven details feature on dresses. Foiled high-twist fabric is merged with cotton in a new technical offering for shirts. Consciously progressing fabrics each season, all cotton in the collection is more sustainably sourced. This includes organic, recycled and repurposed cotton.

A selection of innovative wellbeing and lifestyle products from independent brands such as Austin Austin, J Hannah and Lexon, are also integrated within the space, sitting amongst the collection and alongside a selection curated books with titles from specialist publishers in art, photography, architecture and design including; Thames and Hudson, Phaidon, Mack, Heni and Taschen.

To celebrate the opening of COS Flagship store, a limited-edition repurposed cotton tote bags will be gifted with all purchases over 150€ in the Huidevetterstraat store whilst stocks last.
