The story of Ray-Ban started few years before its creation. After a balloon flying adventures, Lieutenant John MacCready complained that his eyes were not protected enough during this trip. They asked Bausch & Lomb to create sunglasses that would protect the eyes with elegance. The duo thought of the best solution and few years later, in 1937, they presented their prototype. The model has been a success and many pilots adopted it. Ray-Ban was founded on that success. Nowadays, Ray-Ban is a recognized brand in the world. The label includes seven lines in its collection: Families, Icons, Active lifestyle, High street, Fast and furious, Tech and Craft. In 1999, Bausch & Lomb sold the brand to the Italian Luxottica Group for $1.2billion.
