Similar to the study options of a dual university, we designed the dual study system for high school graduates, who predominantly wish to enter the fashion industry without prior experience in this field. Our study system integrates the educational qualifications retail, wholesale or industrial in a study course with an strong emphasis on practical experience. 

The graduates are able to start working in their profession only after 30 months in the dual study system – 12 months at ldt nagold and 18 in the collaborating company.

School graduation examination, subject-related entry qualification or advanced technical college entrance qualification, a trainee contract concluded with a company of the textile or shoe industry. Applications are entered with the partner companies. Many companies accept applications all over the year. 

The dual degree system comprises five phases of studies at the ldt each with their own study modules. Those are completed with five phases of practical work in the partner company. Phases of studies alternated with phases of practical experience.

As extracurricular studies, we offer courses on interdisciplinary subjects of usually take 2 half-days per semester. The topics include digitisation, sustainability, job descriptions and migration and immigration.

Once the basic knowledge of retail oriented themes has been conveyed, instruction focuses strategically on team projects, role playing and case studies. In general we distinguish between basic subjects and specialized subjects.

In the 4th and 5th phase of studies at the ldt, staff members of the production or sales management divisions of well-known manufacturers teach the students in the field of purchasing. Following the division into working groups and a briefing by the specialized lecturers, realistic practice in ordering and allocation of limits is carried out with the newest collections. Together, we analyse and evaluate the decisions of the students.

Ldt nagold offers the opportunity to improve upon the abilities to speak english and italian during the course of studies. We offer these classes in additional courses. After approx. 100 units  

It is possible to achieve the subject degree business english ihk - chamber of industry and commerce. Basic requirement to take the classes is an examination of the language level by passing the ldt-language test when starting the studies.
