This five-day intensive course is a broad introduction to the business side of fashion through key topics such as retail, branding, buying and merchandising, and PR. The key characteristics of the fashion industry – and the unique way fashion is marketed – will be considered, with reference to both “bricks and mortar” and digital consumer experiences.
Students will also look at the work of established stylists and photographers, as well as learning about agencies, sourcing products for shoots, and the differences between editorial and advertising.
This short course is suitable for anyone who is interested in how the business side of the fashion industry works.
It is also useful as a taster – and overview – for anyone who is considering studying fashion business in the future.
Students will finish the course with a greater understanding of the commercial side of the industry, particularly the retail, buying, branding, marketing and development sectors.
