This course, accredited by the Textile Institute, has been designed to give students both a practical and theoretical understanding of fashion buying, merchandising, sourcing, product development brand and quality management of the supply chain from concept to consumer.
You will learn about forecasting trends, consumer behaviour, psychographic profiling and what makes people buy. You will gain practical knowledge about the product development process including fabric selection and testing, colour management, quality management and sustainability. You will learn about predicting the trend, planning the range, building the brand then how to protect and promote it.
The course aims to develop your creative skills as well as problem-solving, organisational, planning, promotional and management skills. CAD lessons will facilitate creative presentation while other CAD/CAM management tools will also be experienced in preparation for industry.
You will study through a mix of practice and theory based learning and will benefit from the opportunity to collaborate with students from other disciplines as well as top brands
On graduation, you will be well prepared to pursue a role within the fashion industry. Graduates will work in fashion forecasting, buying, merchandising, product development, fabric sourcing, marketing, visual merchandising, and brand management.
Entry requirements:
Students will normally be expected to possess five GCSEs (grade C/level 4 or above) or equivalent (including English) and also to hold at least one of the following or equivalent UK or international qualification.
Students are also normally expected to possess at least one of the following (or equivalent) UK or international qualifications:
-2 A levels, grade C or above
-4 AS levels, grade C or above
-2 vocational A levels, grade C or above
-Level 3 Foundation Diploma or Level 3 Extended Diploma
-Advanced Diploma, grade C or above
-International Baccalaureate, 28 points or above
-Students may also be asked to submit a portfolio, showreel or other examples of creative or technical practice, and invited to interview if shortlisted.
