BTEC L3 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design:
Overview
The BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art and Design is an internally assessed one-year course for students hoping to progress to higher education in art-related subjects. It focuses on critical awareness, creative abilities, and building a portfolio.
This course provides an introduction to the creative arts by introducing you to a wide range of disciplines and allowing you to experiment with a range of materials and processes, preparing you for progression onto a higher education art/design related degree programme.
By exposing you to a number of specialist pathways including Fashion and Textiles, Fine Art, 3D Design and Visual Communication, you will have the opportunity to experiment within the different creative fields and choose the right specialist pathway for you.
On the Foundation in Art and Design you will explore through drawing and mixed media, research and contextualisation which will be taught through workshops, seminars, studio critiques and lectures. The outcomes of your explorative processes will be refined and demonstrated in a Final Major Project which will be exhibited at the end of the course.
Many of our Art and Design students go on to study at many of the top arts universities in the UK including the UAL and/or gain employment in the creative industry.
Assessment

To achieve the BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art and Design, you must achieve a minimum of 120 credits. Units include:
Researching, Recording and Responding
Media Experimentation
Preparation and Progression
Personal Experimental Studies
Final Major Project

How Will The Course Run
Assessment Method/Assessor Support: This will be undertaken via a combination of assignment work and practical work which will all contribute towards your Final Major Project/Exhibition at the end of your course.
You will have regular face to face contact with your tutor and this will also include 1 to 1 sessions and group session. Outside lesson time contact can be made with your tutor via email, telephone and video call via our system.
